Alex Wiesman awarded a CIHR Banting fellowship

Congratulations to Alex Wiesman, PhD, on becoming a Banting postdoctoral fellow sponsored by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research. The Banting program is a prestigious accolade for early-career researchers like Alex, promoting their independence towards creating their own research group. Alex is one of the two CIHR Banting fellows based at McGill in this most recent competition, 24 across Canada (from 144 applications).

Alex has been with us since September 2020, growing our research activities in Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s diseases. His work in the lab has been sponsored so far by a NIH F32 fellowship, another prestigious program for junior PhD researchers. He has published his most recent studies with our group and collaborators in open-access journals (here and here), and a series of preprints (here and here) currently under peer review.

Congratulations Alex, we’re truly fortunate that you have elected to stay with us in Montreal for a little more while!
